How We Grow

From our infants having their first school experiences away from parents, to our confident, independent four-year-olds, at York Avenue Day School our goal is to inspire a lifelong love of learning.

In every classroom we provide a rich learning environment that includes varied activities and materials. The focus of activities emerges based on the children’s interests. Once the theme area of learning is agreed upon, plans and research help prepare the classroom for every child to learn, enjoy and explore. Established classroom routines provide a structure that helps children thrive, while teachers engage with students to help develop more specific skills. Each day we follow a predictable schedule, including periods of active indoor and outdoor play, group meeting time, art experiences, story time, class games, snacks, lunch, and quiet rest time.  Throughout the week, classes will participate in a variety of specialty classes to enhance and enrich their school experience.
